Business Contact Manager 2007 vs BCM 2003

Last year I reviewed Outlook 2003 with Business Contact Manager, and being somehow disappointed on some lacking features of BCM 2003, I decided to take a look at what Business Contact Manager 2007 has to offer. First of all, Business Contact Manager doesn’t come as a separate product, it is an add-on for Outlook 2007 so you cannot purchase it separately.

Constant Contact

Constant Contact is an online contact management service with options to follow-up with your contacts via an email newsletter, promotion, event invitation, or to send them online surveys - an easy way to connect with your possible (or existing) customers and find out what you could do to improve their experience with your company.

Free CRM

Free CRM is a CRM software solution developed by CRM ASP. It is a web based customer relationship management software solution (with some items for sales force automation). Free CRM can be used for contact management, lead tracking, sales pipeline management and forecasting.

ACT! 2008 by Sage

ACT! 2008, developed by Sage, is a contact and customer relationship management software that allows you to organize contact information, manage tasks and activities and offers various communication tools to help you increase your productivity.

Sage reported over 2.7 million users and 41,000 corporate customers for ACT!, userbase obtained over the course of the 20 years since a first version of the program was released.

PostBooks

PostBooks is an open source ERP business system for small and medium businesses. It has modules for accounting and CRM and also runs on multiple platforms (Linux, Mac, Windows). At its core PostBooks is based on the commercial OpenMFG ERP Suite (one of the editions of xTuple ERP). One of the best things about PostBooks (beside the fact that is open source aka free) is that it's translated in several languages thus its accounting module has multi-currency and tax structures support. PostBooks is licensed under CPAL, an OSI-certified Common Public Attribution License.

ADempiere

ADempiere is a business suite that has modules for ERP, CRM, MFG, SCM and POS. ADempiere was created on sourceforge as an open source project in September 2006. It's created actually on the platform of Compiere™ (developed by ComPiere Inc.), the crack being initiated by the different views between the developers of Compiere and the community that formed around that project (the community considered that the ComPiere Inc company was emphasizing too much the fact that the project is open source rather showing the community nature of the project. ADempiere in Italian means "to fulfill", but so does Compiere mean only that ADempiere is more like "accomplish"
